Job Overview

Position Summary:

  • As a Software Asset Management Specialist, your primary focus will be on the effective oversight and strategic administration of the software portfolio to enhance value, control costs, and mitigate risks associated with Software and SaaS investments.
  • You will be tasked with monitoring, managing, and coordinating the renewal of licenses and maintenance agreements in collaboration with software stakeholders.
  • Your role will involve generating comprehensive reports that aggregate data from multiple sources, detailing license entitlements, installations, usage metrics, renewal timelines, procurement statuses, and identifying data discrepancies while establishing and implementing standardized SAM practices.
  • Collaboration with subject matter experts—including software stakeholders, system administrators, project managers, financial analysts, and engineers—will be essential to gather critical information necessary for effective software management.
  • You will influence decisions regarding software licensing models and terms that significantly affect the IT infrastructure.
  • Specifically, you will ensure the accurate collection and maintenance of Software Licensing information in repositories to support budgeting, software compliance, inventory management, contracts, and cost analysis.
  • Working alongside Software Owners, you will oversee enterprise license true-ups and reconciliations.
  • Your support will be crucial during software publisher audits.
  • You will assist in resolving disputes and recommend strategies for audit defense initiatives.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities through software re-harvesting and license optimization will be part of your responsibilities.
  • You will respond to inquiries from software stakeholders, end users, managers, developers, and team members regarding specific IT Software Asset Management information.
  • Staying updated on new and revised software license models and options for key manufacturer products will be essential.
  • You will actively evaluate risks and cost reduction opportunities, providing recommendations to Software Owners and SAM leadership to optimize the software asset portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Familiarity with Asset Management tools and technologies.
  • Experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro is essential; Flexera experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of Software Asset Management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of product use rights for major publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, Salesforce, Oracle, etc.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to organize and synthesize large volumes of information.
  • Familiarity with hardware technology and configurations, including virtualization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed organizational structure.
