Overview

The Tax Compliance Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings for CHI and its affiliated Market Based Organizations (MBOs). This position serves as a key liaison for tax-related inquiries from Tax Analysts, Senior Tax Analysts, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough reviews of tax filings to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and organizational policies.
- Manage the timely submission of extensions, returns, and payments, including various tax forms such as 990, 990-T, 1120, and 1065.
- Supervise tax return preparation projects, ensuring adherence to established timelines and budgets.
- Act as the primary contact for complex tax issues, collaborating with Tax Managers and Directors to resolve challenges.
- Lead and mentor tax staff, providing guidance and conducting performance evaluations.
- Serve as a consultant for MBOs and internal teams on a variety of tax matters, including payroll, sales and use tax, and property tax issues.
- Establish efficient processes for tax return preparation and review, adapting to changes in tax regulations.
- Facilitate training sessions for tax staff and other relevant personnel involved in the tax preparation process.
- Stay informed on evolving tax laws and filing requirements, adjusting practices as necessary.
- Assist in coordinating audits conducted by the IRS and state revenue departments.
- Contribute to the development of tax policies for CHI and its MBOs.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- CPA certification or legal qualifications are highly desirable.
- Experience with a Big 4 CPA firm is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of four years of experience in tax preparation and research is required.
- At least 1-2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Compensation

- Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
