POSITION SUMMARY:


This role entails the comprehensive oversight and administration of sales tax operations, encompassing tax exemptions, refunds, and monthly tax filings. The individual must possess a thorough understanding of tax regulations applicable to each operating entity to ensure adherence to these regulations and fulfill audit obligations.

Responsibilities include defining and aiding in the execution of process enhancements and technical advancements within the sales tax domain to minimize backlog and foster a favorable customer experience for tax inquiries.

Additionally, this position will involve various responsibilities such as data analysis, metric establishment, reporting, and participation in operational initiatives and projects.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Establish protocols and requirements for data quality assurance, ensuring that all tax-related activities comply with state legislation and SOX regulations.

Approach tasks with a mindset focused on continuous improvement, aiming for measurable enhancements.

Demonstrate the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions independently, driving positive outcomes.

Become a subject matter expert in utility tax processes and regulations across all CCS jurisdictions.

Provide guidance and support to internal teams involved in tax functions, assisting them with inquiries and customer-related tax issues.

Support sales tax audits by researching customer data and retrieving necessary tax exemption and invoice documentation.

Ensure that tax exemption documentation is current and properly maintained, including the electronic retention of tax certificates.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address tax-related inquiries and resolve issues, including accurate account coding as tax-exempt and generating certificates in the Web Tool Kit.

Review and respond to regulatory and executive complaints.

Work alongside billing teams and Customer Service representatives as needed for tax-related inquiries and requests.

Assist with sales tax and Taxware modifications, including assigned testing.

Proactively communicate potential issues or changes to leadership to prevent escalation.

Foster a collaborative relationship with the Tax department to ensure ongoing communication.

Handle requests for data retrieval specific to data analysis and other job functions.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience is required.

At least 6 years of relevant professional experience is necessary.

Preferred experience with Entergy systems such as SAP/CCS, Taxware, and Business Warehouse or Datacore.

Experience in utility rates, billing, and SAP Utility Billing is desirable.

Proficiency in Excel and Power BI reporting, with experience in data retrieval and presentation.

Strong analytical skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with Access and other databases for querying and analysis.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to lead teams effectively.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with the Tax department and other internal and external teams.

Strong planning, analytical, communication, and organizational skills are required.

Capability to work independently or as a key member of a diverse team to achieve objectives.
