Position Summary:

The Tax Compliance Manager will report directly to the Controller and will oversee the preparation of various tax returns and associated payments for a rapidly expanding logistics organization.

Penn Foster Inc specializes in consulting and managing both domestic and international less than truckload and truckload operations for shippers of all sizes across North America.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary contact with external accountants for annual income tax returns, including international, federal, and state filings.
  • Prepare necessary monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings and estimates, which may include annual reports with Secretary of State offices, sales tax, property tax, and gross receipts tax.
  • Ensure adherence to state, federal, and international tax regulations and filing deadlines.
  • Maintain compliance with commuter benefit plans.
  • Ensure that appropriate state and local business licenses and registrations are secured for new locations, while maintaining compliance with reporting requirements for all operational sites.
  • Act as a liaison with third-party payroll processors regarding payroll tax notices and issues, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Prepare annual 1099 filings.
  • Complete additional projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required; CPA designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of Oracle NetSuite is a plus.
