Position Summary:

The Tax Manager will report directly to the Controller and will oversee the preparation of various tax returns and associated payments for a rapidly expanding logistics firm.

Penn Foster Inc specializes in consulting and managing both domestic and international less than truckload and truckload operations for shippers of all sizes across North America.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary contact with external accountants for annual income tax returns, including international, federal, and state filings.
  • Prepare necessary monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings and estimates, which may include annual reports with Secretary of State offices, sales tax, property tax, and gross receipts tax.
  • Ensure adherence to state, federal, and international tax regulations and filing deadlines.
  • Maintain compliance with commuter benefit plans.
  • Ensure that appropriate state and local business licenses and registrations are obtained for new locations and that the company remains compliant with reporting requirements for all locations.
  • Act as a liaison with third-party payroll processors regarding any payroll tax notices or issues, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Prepare annual 1099 filings.
  • Undertake additional projects and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required; CPA designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of Oracle NetSuite is a plus.
