As a key player in the procurement team, you will engage in the daily operations of the purchasing function.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and comprehend material specifications in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.
  • Interpret Military Standards and ensure accurate communication to suppliers.
  • Understand and communicate the necessary Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate qualified suppliers.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Program and Quality Management teams.
  • Conduct research, interviews, and negotiations with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, delivery timelines, and product quality.
  • Generate purchase orders for material acquisition, ensuring all necessary details are included (e.g., grade, dimensions, quantity, due date, and customer requirements).
  • Consistently follow up on and monitor purchased items, providing management with current status updates.
  • Track cost savings related to materials and report findings to management on a monthly basis.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but involves indirect leadership in relation to customer satisfaction.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Strong data entry, organizational, and communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency while maintaining accuracy.
  • Experience in the steel industry is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with purchasing processes related to government contracts is preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in business or a related field from an accredited institution is required, along with four (4) years of relevant experience in purchasing, finance, or sales, including three (3) years in the steel fabrication sector; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, production associates, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Strong mathematical skills and financial acumen are required. Basic financial knowledge is essential.

REASONING ABILITY

Must be capable of making sound business decisions and possess strong problem-solving skills. Requires analytical abilities to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical documents and read blueprints is necessary.

CERTIFICATIONS
CPPM certification is preferred.
