Job Summary

As a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our team at Prisma Health. Your primary responsibilities will include performing various technical procedures for patients, obtaining medical information, and assisting with pre-certifications and referrals. You will also be responsible for maintaining patient records, scheduling surgeries and follow-up appointments, and providing education and training to patients and families. Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain brief medical history and chief complaint from patients
  • Maintain patient records via electronic medical record
  • Set up and assist with office procedures
  • Perform autorefraction, refraction, Humphrey visual field, OCT, IOL master, pachymeter, and other procedures within scope of training and certification
  • Assist physicians with scribing and performing tasks during patient exams
  • Schedule surgeries, follow-up appointments, and referrals as requested
  • Phone and fax prescriptions for medications and glasses per physician orders
  • Receive and return phone calls, screening and forwarding those requiring physician action
  • Monitor and maintain stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment
  • Provide education and training to patients and families

Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Job Related Course Work Beyond High School-Completion of Ophthalmology Certification Program
  • Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: CERT OPHTHALMOLOGY ASSISTANT - C073
