Job Title: Senior Donor Engagement Officer, Development and Alumni Relations

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Donor Engagement Officer to join our Development and Alumni Relations team at Boston University. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in creating and implementing strategic stewardship plans to enhance donor relationships and increase philanthropic support for the university.

About the Role:

The Senior Donor Engagement Officer will work closely with Development and Alumni Relations leadership and gift officers to develop and implement creative annual and multi-year individualized stewardship plans for principal gift donors and prospects. This will involve collaborating with the Stewardship and Donor Relations team to create plan templates, working with Advancement Information Strategies and DAR IT colleagues to ensure data use and CRM tracking, and monitoring and evaluating the success of the program with data, metrics, and stories.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic stewardship plans to enhance donor relationships and increase philanthropic support for the university.
  • Work closely with Development and Alumni Relations leadership and gift officers to create and implement individualized stewardship plans for principal gift donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate with the Stewardship and Donor Relations team to create plan templates and ensure data use and CRM tracking.
  • Monitor and evaluate the success of the program with data, metrics, and stories.
  • Design, write, and produce donor acknowledgement and communication pieces as needed.
  • Identify, manage, and generate engagement opportunities and new initiatives to enhance donor experience.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience in development, stewardship, donor relations, advancement communications, preferably in a complex institution of higher education.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record in developing and implementing strategic solutions.
  • Exemplary communications skills and the ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of persons at all levels of management within and external to a university environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to interact with senior level administrators, donors/prospects, and colleagues with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality.
  • Superb judgment and the sensibility to adjudicate wisely among competing priorities.
  • Strong project management skills and follow through necessary to develop plans and timelines, monitor priorities, and progress against goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and perform multiple duties with minimal supervision, with a high degree of accuracy, keen attention to detail, and follow-through under tight deadlines.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment involving high-level stakeholders; ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and high level of discretion. Must be highly organized and able to manage confidential information.
  • Exhibit a curiosity for streamlining processes using technology to improve outcomes and accuracy.
  • Strong working knowledge of donor databases/CRM.
  • Highly proficient in relevant software, eCRM's, operations and procedures, including University wide systems and applications (SAP).
