Administrative Assistant Ecclesiastical Notary

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant Ecclesiastical Notary to join our team at the Roman Catholic Bishop of Manchester. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Tribunal office, ensuring the smooth operation of our canonical services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide secretarial, consultative, transcription, record, correspondence, and telephone services to support the Office of Canonical Services and Tribunal.
- Assist in the maintenance of the Tribunal office calendar.
- Maintain, organize, and manage files.
- Process marriage investigation casework, as prescribed by the 1983 Code of Canon Law.
- Transcribe recorded testimonies.
- Proofread and correct others' transcriptions for content, context, and accuracy.
- Prepare various forms of correspondence, letters, and decrees.
- Respond to telephone inquiries and/or make referrals to appropriate parties.
- Participate in weekly Tribunal Staff Meetings.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-5 years clerical/administrative office experience required.
- Excellent and accurate keyboard skills.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers, including MS Word, tables and spreadsheets, MS Access, database, and Internet programs.
- Ability to learn and employ additional software as needed.
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
- Proficiency in the use of office equipment, such as recording and dictation machines, digital recording/transcription programs, computers, calculators, copiers, scanners, etc.
- Excellent observation skills and competence in document verification procedures.
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
- Proficient in the use of office machines: copiers, scanners, transcription equipment, etc.; also proficient in the use of personal computers and programs, including: MS Word, Excel spreadsheets, online database, and Internet programs.
- Ability to learn additional software as needed.
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will work in a general office environment, with occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to ten pounds, frequent hand manipulation in operating controls and equipment, and frequent bending and climbing (stairs).
