Job Summary
The Services Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our Shelter, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all participants. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of ethics in social services, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a meaningful orientation to participants about Shelter programs and services, engaging them in activities and promoting a sense of community.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, conducting regular checks of the interior and exterior of the building.
- Inspect facilities to ensure security and program compliance, maintaining accurate records and reporting any issues to supervisors.
- Perform daily tasks, including checking Shelter Operation Logs, maintaining client records, and responding to participant requests and questions.
- Act as a decision-maker for critical incidents, calling supervisors or site management staff for direction as needed.
- Facilitate groups, workshops, and client meetings, referring clients to the SF-START team and preparing START intake forms as required.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with a minimum of six months experience working in a customer-facing role.
- Experience working with homeless adults, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent reading and writing skills, with prior paid experience working with homeless populations that use harm-reduction models.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including lifting items up to 40 pounds and traveling to and from ECS sites.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding Agency rules and regulations.
