Job Title: Juvenile Corrections OfficerJob Summary:

This position is responsible for the health and welfare, safety and security of juveniles detained at the Juvenile Detention Center. The Juvenile Corrections Officer will supervise, monitor, and provide care for juvenile offenders and other court-involved youth in a confined, 24-hour maximum security facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and monitor juvenile offenders and other court-involved youth
  • Provide care and support for juveniles in a 24-hour maximum security facility
  • Search and remove personal property
  • Review social files and gather information for admittance or release from detention
  • Communicate with parents, guardians, caseworkers, and other stakeholders
  • Provide orientation on facility rules and regulations
  • Ensure health, safety, and recreation needs of juveniles are met
  • Check security of building, doors, and windows
  • Oversee youth movement, including meals, showers, and recreational activities
  • Provide positive individual and group supervision of juveniles
  • Escort youth to and from court
  • Follow medical orders and dispense medication to juvenile offenders
  • De-escalate crisis situations and use physical restraint as necessary
  • Maintain and submit written documentation of incidents
  • Perform janitorial and maintenance tasks
  • Perform admission and release functions
  • Serve and prepare meals
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of experience working in adult corrections or with youth in a detention, probation, or residential care setting
  • Valid Driver's License
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
  • Ability to work any assigned shift, including day, swing, and graveyard shifts
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to pass a background check, polygraph test, and physical examination
