Role Summary:

The Residential Child and Youth Care Specialist (RCYCP) plays a vital role in supporting the well-being of clients in our group home setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of residential programs for clients in designated group homes.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to clients during leisure and structured activities.
  • Engage directly with adolescent and young adult females experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Oversee the welfare, safety, and whereabouts of clients at all times.
  • Address routine issues that arise within the group home and escalate serious concerns to supervisors.
  • Implement programs that promote the social, physical, creative, and emotional growth of clients.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals, involving clients in the process while monitoring dietary needs.
  • Support clients in daily living activities, reinforcing self-care and personal hygiene practices.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques to encourage positive social interactions and serve as a role model for acceptable behavior.
  • Monitor client medications and ensure timely medical attention for both routine and emergency situations.
  • Document significant daily activities and participate in regular staff meetings for ongoing development.
  • Adhere to program policies and regulations governing residential child care facilities.
  • Conduct necessary housekeeping duties and report maintenance needs to supervisors.
  • If assigned to overnight shifts, perform regular checks to ensure client safety and security.

Work Schedule: Weekend and shift work required, typically from 3 PM to 11 PM.

Work Environment: The position involves working indoors in well-lit and ventilated areas, as well as outdoors in various weather conditions. Protective equipment may be necessary when handling bodily fluids.

Qualifications:

  • Licenses & Certifications: CPR, First-Aid, Valid Driver's License, Residential Child Care Practitioner Certification (to be obtained within 180 days of hire).
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum age of 21 with at least two years of experience working with emotionally and behaviorally challenged adolescents or in a group home setting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform various physical tasks, including walking, standing, and driving.
  • Vaccination: Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of college education with coursework in psychology, sociology, recreation, or special education.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour, based on experience and weekend availability.
