The Audiovisual Systems Technician plays a crucial role in the technical setup and oversight of audiovisual systems. This includes tasks such as equipment rack assembly, site readiness, audio and video equipment termination and calibration, as well as the implementation of control and video conferencing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure the successful execution of AV installations.
  • Efficiently route various wire types to designated locations, adhering to design specifications while avoiding damage to cables and ensuring compliance with conduit fill and bend radius standards.
  • Safely rig devices, following established safety protocols and recommended rigging practices.
  • Accurately terminate cables with the appropriate connectors, selecting and utilizing the correct tools for each type.
  • Construct equipment racks; organize and dress cabling neatly while observing signal separation and considering ergonomics and heat dissipation.
  • Conduct performance verification by testing all components of the AV system to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Interpret project documentation, including system flow diagrams and installation plans, ensuring adherence to specifications during installation.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in electrical, electronics, or communication systems is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in AV system installation, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of networking, firmware updates, and control code loading for various manufacturer products, along with basic commissioning capabilities.
  • Familiarity with building construction and the ability to read and interpret construction documents is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in PC office applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and adaptability.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in diverse environments, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, and using high-lift equipment; capable of working in various conditions.
  • Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance.
