We are in search of a dedicated professional who thrives in a high-pressure environment and demonstrates adaptability in critical care scenarios.

This role involves providing direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients, ensuring their safety and comfort within our family-centered care framework.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is organized into four specialized cohorts aimed at enhancing patient outcomes:

1. Surgical and Neuro-surgical Intensive Care Unit:
Focuses on post-operative care for liver and kidney transplants, trauma cases, seizure disorders, and other surgical interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously update and adjust care plans based on new information and changes in patient conditions, ensuring effective communication with the healthcare team.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary rounds and patient care conferences, documenting findings appropriately.
  • Support patients and families in understanding and participating in their care plans.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Administer medications and treatments promptly and accurately.
  • Show a commitment to learning and applying new knowledge and skills to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Contribute to unit performance improvement initiatives.

Vaccination against COVID-19, including any recommended booster doses, is a requirement for all employees, unless an exemption is granted for medical or religious reasons.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate's degree, technical diploma, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program is required.
  • Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact, along with BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of professional nursing experience is necessary.
  • Ability to operate unit-specific medical equipment.
  • Willingness to work night shifts.
  • Knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking, PALS, ACLS, and interdisciplinary collaboration is essential.
