Position Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering specializing in propulsion and spacecraft electro-mechanical systems. At Revolution Space, our mission is to develop cutting-edge space systems for the modern era.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Senior Manager, you will:
  • Oversee the establishment of a new assembly, integration, and testing facility.
  • Be accountable for process validation, quality assurance, and supplier development throughout product and process development phases.
  • Collaborate with research and design engineers to create internal manufacturing processes, procedures, and product workflows.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with external manufacturers, defining quality standards, conducting first article inspections, and integrating design feedback and DFM insights from suppliers.
  • Support our team of technicians in the assembly of production and R&D units, providing training and resolving process-related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to manufacturing schedules to meet production requirements.
  • Conduct audits and report on performance metrics related to processes.
  • Coordinate with engineers across various facilities involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Assist in the integration of MEMS components into intricate electromechanical systems.
  • Review designs for DFM compliance and ensure all design output files meet established standards.
  • Generate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), perform BOM comparisons, and update Approved Vendor List information within our ECO management system.
  • Develop and execute Supplier Qualification Audit Processes, including on-site evaluations of Contract Manufacturers and key component suppliers.
  • Drive enhancements in product design and manufacturing process quality.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments, including New Product Introduction, Engineering, Operations, and Customer Service, to address Supplier Quality issues and ensure timely product delivery.
  • Perform First Article Inspections and Cosmetic Qualifications of vendor-supplied components as necessary.
  • Inform Quality and Reliability Metrics and Requirements during the development of supplier purchasing agreements and contracts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in a hands-on manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Understanding of complex electro-mechanical assembly integration.
  • Experience in aerospace, medical devices, or similar industries that demand precision and high reliability.
  • Proven track record in scaling from prototype to high-rate production.
  • Expertise in Supplier Quality Management.
  • Experience in designing and constructing manufacturing facilities.
  • Background in lean manufacturing with practical involvement in manufacturing processes.
  • Strong technical skills in manufacturing methods and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with various materials and fabrication techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 20+ years of experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with space or flight hardware.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 quality standards.
  • Knowledge of IPC Standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, J-STD-001).
  • Experience in clean-room production environments.
  • Implementation of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) management programs.
  • Experience handling parts sensitive to Electro-static Discharge.
  • Familiarity with workflow optimization frameworks (e.g., 5S).
