Job Overview

As a vital member of our team at Baker Commodities Inc., you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitized, and safe working environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently load, unload, and transport materials within the plant yard based on work orders or verbal instructions.
  • Operate forklifts, tractor trailers, and skip loaders safely within the facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, machinery, and equipment throughout the plant.
  • Shovel loose materials into designated hoppers or trash receptacles.
  • Remove waste from various areas including the plant, locker rooms, and parking lots.
  • Sanitize cooking and processing equipment, including cookers and tanks.
  • Document cleaning and sanitation activities accurately.
  • Perform painting of equipment as required.
  • Operate process equipment following instructions provided.
  • Gain knowledge of CMPAF (Cattle Material Prohibited in Animal Feed) and APPI (Animal Protein Producers Industry) procedures and documentation.
  • Engage with colleagues in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Adhere to departmental and company protocols.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, which are essential for the smooth operation of the business.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective business operations, which may evolve over time.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience operating forklifts is preferred.
  • Experience in a production environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to climb and work at heights is necessary.
  • Must be capable of frequently lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
  • Travel requirements are minimal, less than 5%.

Physical Requirements

Constantly (over 2/3 of the time):

  • Move and transport materials, utilizing specialized lifting and moving equipment as needed.
  • Navigate wet, slippery, and uneven surfaces.
  • Position oneself to perform duties around industrial equipment and hazardous materials.

Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time):

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ascend and descend heights while maintaining balance.
  • Utilize tools such as shovels for material movement.
  • Operate forklifts or other machinery while seated, coordinating multiple limbs.

Occasionally (under 1/3 of the time):

  • Identify and address conditions requiring attention, such as equipment maintenance or material relocation.
  • Complete logs and reports both electronically and manually.
  • Communicate effectively with staff during task execution.
