As the Performance Analysis Lead, you will spearhead the Performance Analysis Reporting initiative in support of the Royal Navy. You will join a team dedicated to promoting data-driven decision-making, comprising both military and civilian personnel. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing critical business intelligence to senior leaders for informed decision-making, particularly during high-level strategic meetings.
  • Developing the Navy's Integrated Plan to facilitate key capability transitions in alignment with national security reviews.
  • Identifying strategic risks that may impact the Royal Navy's future performance and ensuring effective risk management within the Navy Command Operating Model.
  • Delivering quarterly corporate reports to the Ministry of Defence using advanced digital tools for Performance and Risk Reporting.
  • Compiling and validating the Navy's annual agreement plans in collaboration with Defence Equipment and Support.
  • Connecting and assisting the broader Performance Group with Portfolio Analysis and Insights, while developing suitable tools and products.

This role is structured around a 37-hour work week.

Job Responsibilities

In Navy Command, our civil servants collaborate closely with military personnel in roles that are crucial to operational effectiveness. These positions offer significant job satisfaction and numerous opportunities for professional growth within the Department and the wider Civil Service.

The Navy Command Headquarters serves as the central hub for the Naval Service, overseeing global operations and providing the necessary resources to implement the UK's defense policy. It supports all Royal Navy activities, from frontline operations to personnel management, training, finance, governance, equipment procurement, and strategic planning.

The Performance Group, situated within the Directorate of the Naval Staff, is tasked with driving and coordinating delivery efforts across Navy Command in line with organizational priorities. The group is organized into three key areas: Performance Insights, Portfolio Performance, and Project Delivery Performance, which work collaboratively to deliver products and services to partners.

The Performance Analysis Lead will play a pivotal role in helping Navy Command achieve its strategic goals by facilitating data-driven decision-making at senior reviews. You will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to conduct analyses that reflect the organization's performance, providing essential support for decision-making and prioritization within the Performance Insights domain.

Key Duties Include:

  • Conducting thorough analyses of data and portfolio information, addressing complex issues, and assessing performance for senior-level reviews.
  • Establishing a portfolio analysis and reporting framework to support senior boards, with an emphasis on understanding the broader implications of program decisions.
  • Engaging effectively with stakeholders to build strong working relationships across various sectors of Defence.
  • Collaborating with MOD communities to innovate and enhance products and analyses that support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Delivering well-informed recommendations, including visual aids, to assist senior leadership in making effective decisions.
  • Providing direct line management to team members, ensuring they are empowered to reach their full potential.
  • Encouraging continuous professional development within the team, balancing individual aspirations with organizational needs.
