Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our team at the Navy Exchange. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, selling general merchandise, and working as part of a sales team to meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sales and Customer Service: Sell general merchandise to customers, provide sales-related assistance, and engage customers in conversation to provide excellent customer service.
  • Merchandise Management: Assist in the selection of merchandise, suggest additional items to customers, and ensure assigned areas are fully stocked and merchandise is neatly arranged.
  • Food and Beverage Convenience Bar Operations: Open and close the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar, ensure all equipment is turned on and off, preheat and display products, and maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Customer Returns and Problems: Handle customer returns and problems tactfully and efficiently, apply store policies consistently, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Inventory Management: Unpack, stage, and move merchandise as assigned, assist in creating store displays, and perform periodic inventories.
  • Cash Handling: Complete sales transactions efficiently, handle cash register transactions, and perform all types of cash register transactions accurately and procedurally.
  • Store Policies and Procedures: Become knowledgeable in NEX store policies, including Richter Merchandising System functions and operation, merchandise returns, price matching, check cashing, and rain checks.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Interact with customers and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner, assist and support sales team members, and participate in department meetings to exchange ideas and improve customer service and job performance.
Requirements:
  • No experience required, high school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Eligible for and participates in applicable commission and gainsharing sales incentive programs.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as it relates to job duties.
