What You Will Do:

The Energy Transmission Strategy Engineer plays a pivotal role in crafting innovative approaches for Transmission Planning in the dynamic energy sector, focusing on sustainable energy solutions.

This demanding role necessitates robust analytical, creative, and interpersonal capabilities to effectively engage in regulatory and strategic consulting initiatives.

The Energy Transmission Strategy Engineer will independently oversee projects while also collaborating with team members.

As a consultant, the Energy Transmission Strategy Engineer is expected to manage tasks proficiently, perform comprehensive business analyses, and deliver exceptional results for clients dealing with intricate systems.

Exhibiting professionalism and business insight is essential for the Energy Transmission Strategy Engineer to thrive and add value in client engagements.

This role also includes representing Guidehouse and its clients in various industry discussions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate transmission planning methodologies for coordinated operations, infrastructure resilience, and reliability evaluations
  • Direct the delivery of technical solutions for projects concerning electrical transmission system planning analyses
  • Execute power systems evaluations including feasibility assessments and system impact analyses
  • Conduct various stability simulations and propose transmission enhancements
  • Create dynamic models for diverse resources for stability evaluations
What You Will Need:
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or power systems engineering
  • 2+ years of professional experience in the United States Bulk Electric System (BES)
  • Familiarity with Western Interconnect transmission frameworks and regulatory procedures
  • Willingness to travel
  • Expertise in power systems engineering software
  • Excellent communication and analytical abilities
  • Located in or open to relocating to California
  • Experience in consulting within the utilities sector
Would Be Nice To Have:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or power systems engineering
  • Experience with regional planning organizations
  • Understanding of ISO/RTO operations, particularly CAISO
  • Knowledge of resource interconnection and expansion planning
  • Experience in transmission development

The annual salary range for this position is $94,900.00-$142,000. Compensation decisions depend on various factors such as skills, experience, and certifications.
