Job Overview

Northwestern Mutual Portland is seeking a dedicated and sales-oriented professional to enhance our Financial Planning Team. The ideal candidate will possess a background in client engagement or financial planning support. This role involves participating in client consultations, executing investment transactions, and preparing essential materials for advisor meetings. The individual will also address inquiries related to client investment portfolios and financial strategies while receiving training in our Investment Systems.

Our team is led by a distinguished Certified Financial PlannerTM who adopts a holistic approach to client interactions. With a proven track record of success, our advisor has consistently ranked among the top financial professionals nationally, demonstrating a commitment to client service and excellence. The team currently manages substantial assets and is dedicated to continual growth through effective communication and tailored strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to inquiries regarding client investment accounts and financial strategies.
  • Attend and document 8-10 client meetings alongside the Financial Advisor.
  • Act as a communication bridge between the advisor and clients for all planning and investment matters.
  • Prepare case-related illustrations, analyses, and insights.
  • Facilitate investment transactions.
  • Assist in planning client appreciation events.
  • Ensure compliance with NMIS requirements.
  • Engage with clients to develop advisory plans and provide technical explanations of investment strategies.
  • Process proposal amendments within our financial software.
  • Manage client withdrawals and communicate instructions to the home office.
  • Discuss tax implications, costs, and advisory fees with clients.
  • Maintain a daily follow-up system for account service requirements.
  • Perform cashiering duties and generate performance reports.
  • Administer advisory accounts in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Address advisory-related service issues and manage related paperwork.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in financial planning.
  • Proficient in financial planning software.
  • Comfortable and confident in client communications.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing abilities and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Series 6 or 7, and 63 licenses are required upon hire.
  • Opportunities for additional designations such as ChFC, CLU, or CFP with tenure.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary range of $60,000 - $95,000, with performance-based bonuses.
