Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Cardiac Surgery ICU at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical and emotional needs, developing and implementing plans of care to meet those needs.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, including ordering diagnostic tests and medications, and consulting with specialists as needed.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting health and wellness and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve patient outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the attending physician and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and effective communication with patients and their families.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Current registration as a Professional Nurse in New York and registration as a Nurse Practitioner in New York.
  • Certification in a relevant specialty, such as Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Critical Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • At least five years of clinical nursing practice in the care of the patient population served.
  • Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion, addressing patient/family safety and satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a nurse practitioner.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving, and excellent critical thinking and leadership.
  • Ability to facilitate group processes and work cohesively and collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
