Senior Cloud Software Engineer

Organizational Role

Software engineers play a crucial role in our success by analyzing requirements and crafting inventive solutions. They are responsible for overseeing the implementation of these solutions throughout the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to independently tackle intricate problems and thrive in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision. Collaboration with fellow engineers and other departments is essential. The position requires a quick learner who is passionate about leveraging state-of-the-art technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume technical leadership for NOV CTES's cloud data delivery strategy and design.
  • Guide team members in the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of cloud SaaS solutions for data sharing with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with clients during technical planning and requirements gathering phases, including design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting engineering software solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and performant code, taking full ownership of developed components.
  • Apply knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor the performance, availability, and security of cloud infrastructure, implementing enhancements as necessary.
  • Offer technical support for software solutions to partners and clients through various communication channels. Support may occasionally be required outside of regular hours when client operations are affected.
  • Adhere to all NOV HSE policies, utilize appropriate personal protective equipment, and actively participate in safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 7-15 years of experience in object-oriented software development with a deep understanding of SOLID design principles.
  • Hands-on experience in leading the architecture, design, and development of web APIs.
  • Practical knowledge of AWS or similar cloud services for implementing and maintaining functionality around public-facing web APIs.
  • Experience in developing .NET backend applications using C# and Entity Framework.
  • 2-5 years of database expertise, including SQL, stored procedures, and complex SQL debugging.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of serverless computing and microservice architecture.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, ELK Stack, or CloudWatch.
  • Ability to articulate design concepts clearly to peers in graphical, written, and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated capability in mentoring software development and testing engineers.
  • Proven experience in medium to large team software development processes and tools.
  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect are advantageous.
