Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role is classified as an intermediate to advanced position within the Process Engineering department, reporting directly to the Process Engineering Manager. The incumbent will manage designated projects, overseeing the design, construction, and implementation of new product lines. Responsibilities include ensuring the effective setup and operational startup of assigned tasks while maintaining daily quality standards and overall machine and automation processes.

Qualifications | Experience | Skills:
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory, along with a minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience in injection molding, including at least 2 years in a Process Engineering capacity. A solid foundation in Systematic Processing and Troubleshooting is essential. RJG Master Molder 1 & 2 Certification is strongly advised. Candidates already holding MM1 certification must demonstrate a commitment to obtaining RJG Master Molder 2 Certification. Proficiency in cavity pressure systems (RJG - eDART, Kistler - CoMo) is required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, as is the ability to function effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Self-motivation and the capacity to work with minimal supervision are critical. The ideal candidate will be a team player who maintains professionalism and possesses good project management and documentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is also required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define processes utilizing scientific molding principles.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of D.O.E processes and the ability to apply scientific molding techniques.
  • Conduct tool design reviews for new products and projects.
  • Collaborate with Quality, R&D, Manufacturing, and Tooling departments.
  • Primarily engage in sampling, molds, and materials for both new and existing products.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure that new tools adhere to established timelines.
  • Coordinate with Operations to confirm that new jobs have the appropriate equipment ordered and installed.
  • Manage sample coordination with Scheduling.
  • Establish necessary documentation for each new job, including Process Parameters, Process Reference sheets, and Water diagrams.
  • Collaborate with Document Control to ensure accurate processing information is recorded.
  • Develop long-term solutions and enhance efficiencies within the facility.
  • Assist Operations as required to ensure all job changes are initiated correctly, including cycle times and overall machine and automation processes.
  • Oversee and train setup personnel on mold setups for new projects.
  • Ensure that products meet established quality standards.
  • Support other departments in coordinating mold repairs.
  • Participate in training and mentoring of plant-level process technicians and Process Engineer Level 1 personnel.
  • Be available for troubleshooting as needed.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Engage in intermediate-level customer interactions.
