Key Responsibilities:
The Custodial Technician I is responsible for performing general and specialized cleaning, custodial tasks, and minor maintenance of municipal facilities. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of cleaning techniques and light maintenance practices.
Work is conducted with a significant degree of autonomy, primarily during evening, early morning, and weekend hours. The Custodial Technician I will encounter hazardous materials and must adhere to safety protocols regarding moisture, dust, fumes, chemicals, and waste.
Specific Duties Include:
- General Cleaning: Vacuuming, trash disposal, sweeping, carpet care, and hard floor maintenance.
- Sanitation: Cleaning restroom fixtures, door handles, and mopping. Handling potentially hazardous waste may occur in public areas or during events.
- Maintenance: Replacing light bulbs and fixtures.
- Safety Precautions: Managing exposure to moisture, dust, fumes, chemicals, and waste.
- Outdoor Maintenance: Upkeeping landscaped areas, clearing walkways, snow removal, pressure washing, and general groundskeeping.
