Allied Health The Clinical Laboratory Technician II is tasked with executing, assessing, and reporting laboratory analyses on specimens to guarantee precise and dependable outcomes by following established protocols and guidelines.

Operating under direct oversight, this position is accountable for diagnosing and maintaining sophisticated equipment, organizing tasks to adhere to turnaround expectations, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Laboratory Technician II is integral in providing precise and prompt diagnostic data that aids in patient care and treatment choices.


Responsibilities:

Executes all procedures related to the examination of laboratory specimens, ensuring compliance with established protocols to deliver accurate and trustworthy test results.

Conducts quality control and assurance measures to uphold precision in specimen analysis and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.

Maintains and troubleshoots advanced instrumentation and testing systems, documenting corrective measures prior to releasing testing outcomes to ensure reliable results.

Organizes responsibilities and manages tasks to meet established laboratory turnaround expectations for effective patient care and treatment decisions.

Remains current on annual competencies, continuing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies and procedures.

Practices efficient use of resources and actively engages in inventory management to sustain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required:
Associate's Degree in medical laboratory technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: 1 year of experience as a technologist in a hospital or similar clinical laboratory setting.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY:

Required:

Certification or eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technician is mandatory from ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) - Medical Laboratory Technician with AMT (American Medical Technologists); Certification must be completed within one year from the date of hire.


Preferred:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification.
