Allied Health The Clinical Laboratory Technologist II is tasked with executing, assessing, and reporting laboratory analyses on specimens to guarantee precise and dependable outcomes by following established protocols and guidelines.

Under direct supervision, this position is accountable for troubleshooting and maintaining sophisticated instrumentation, managing workload to adhere to turnaround times, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Laboratory Technologist II is integral in providing accurate and prompt diagnostic information that aids in patient care and treatment decisions.


Responsibilities:

Executes all processes related to the examination of laboratory specimens, ensuring compliance with established protocols to guarantee precise and dependable test results.

Conducts quality control and assurance measures to uphold accuracy in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.

Maintains and troubleshoots sophisticated instrumentation and testing systems, documenting corrective actions prior to releasing testing results to contribute to reliable test outcomes.

Manages duties and organizes workload to meet established laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions.

Stays current on annual competencies, continuing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies and procedures.

Practices efficient utilization of supplies and actively engages in inventory management to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required:
Associate's Degree in medical laboratory technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.

EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: 1 year of experience as a technologist in a hospital or similar clinical laboratory setting.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY:

Required:

Certification or eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technician is required from ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) - Medical Laboratory Technician with AMT (American Medical Technologists); certification must be completed within one year from the date of hire.


Preferred:
ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification is preferred.
