Job Title: Residential Instructor

Job Summary:

The Residential Instructor is a vital member of our team at Alternative Services - Connecticut, Inc. This role is responsible for providing daily care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and document consumer behavior, implementing behavior management programs as needed.
  • Provide programmatic and statistical reports to management.
  • Maintain a safe and clean living environment, conducting regular inspections and making minor repairs as necessary.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to promote consumer independence and self-advocacy.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Document all incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences, completing incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Residential Manager or upper management team.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Agency insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene as necessary.
  • Certifications in CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS State Medication Administration required.

Accountability:

The Residential Instructor reports directly to the Residential Manager or designated supervisor.
