Residential Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team at Alternative Services - Connecticut, Inc. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a home-based setting.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and implement consumer behavior management programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Document all shift activities, incidents, and consumer progress in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required by management and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain the safety, appearance, and cleanliness of the home, including conducting sanitation and safety inspections.
- Develop and implement activities and programs to promote consumer engagement and well-being.
- Provide counseling and reinforcement to consumers to address issues of progress, problems, and interests.
- Assist in supervising and safely transporting consumers to community activities, day programs, and social events.
- Participate in in-service training, seminars, and other opportunities for professional development.
- Adhere to all Agency policies and procedures, including those related to medication administration, key control, and emergency procedures.
- Minimum possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
- Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by our insurance company.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with consumers, staff, and management.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene with consumers as required.
The Residential Instructor is directly accountable to the Residential Manager or designated supervisor.
