Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team at Alternative Services - Connecticut, Inc. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a home-based setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and implement behavior management programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment for consumers.
  • Document all shift activities, incidents, and consumer progress in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required by management.
  • Maintain the safety, appearance, and cleanliness of the home, including conducting sanitation and safety inspections.
  • Assist with medication administration, distribution, and documentation.
  • Develop and implement activities and programs to promote consumer engagement and well-being.
  • Provide counseling and reinforcement to consumers to address issues and promote progress.
  • Assist with transportation and supervision of consumers to community activities and events.
  • Participate in in-service training, seminars, and other professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by our company.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene with consumers as needed.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position working varied shifts, including evenings and weekends. The Residential Instructor will be required to work in a home-based setting and may be required to travel to community activities and events.
