Our main focus is on system technologies that enhance vehicle solutions for shuttle, bus, and rail systems, as well as their associated facilities.
Position Summary: The Field Installation & Service Technician is responsible for executing the installation and testing of both simple and complex vehicle systems. This role includes upgrading equipment, which encompasses relevant software, hardware, and data telecommunications network equipment. Responsibilities also involve the installation and termination of DC low voltage power and signal wiring, along with conduit work.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Field Service within the Mass Transit sector; Entry to Mid-level candidates are welcome.
- Technical Degree or Industry Certifications are advantageous.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
- Technical expertise or engineering background in the mass transit field.
- Ability to adhere to schedules and follow instructions, collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- Proficient in understanding technical documentation, descriptions, and specifications.
- Capability to assess work quality and implement improvements.
- Familiarity with hand power tools, including calibrated tools and multimeters, with a willingness to learn specialized processes.
- Adept at managing multiple tasks, adapting to changes, and employing creative problem-solving skills.
- Competent in reading, writing, and comprehending necessary documentation and instructions.
- Willingness to travel nationwide and possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to disassemble and install components in various vehicle types, including working at heights of up to 16 feet.
- Physical capability to work off ladders up to 25 feet for camera replacements and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to maintaining compliance with all PPE and safety regulations as per OSHA, FRA, and RLC standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support project execution through onsite work.
- Perform hands-on installation tasks, including equipment disassembly.
- Conduct testing and integration activities as part of a collaborative team.
- Participate in site meetings and provide valuable input to the project team.
- Conduct site surveys and supervise electrical subcontractors.
- Validate network functionality and complete installation and start-up commissioning duties.
- Engage in annual safety training and testing.
- Possess low voltage and network experience with both wired and wireless solutions.
- Comfortable working around AC and DC high voltages when necessary.
Preferred Experience:
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, construction drawings, and schematics.
- Experience in field installations, including testing CCTV, access controls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Familiarity with Axis Camera technology or similar IP camera systems.
- Knowledge of Extreme Networks and other wired and wireless network management technologies.
