Position Overview

Leidos is looking for an International Geographic Name Specialist with a strong background in foreign languages to oversee the federal government's official database of international geographic names. This position entails evaluating and delivering precise geographic name data, managing entries in the Geographic Names Database, and employing GIS software for data enhancement. The successful candidate will be fluent in a foreign language and have a solid understanding of geospatial tools and research techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and supply consolidated information related to geographic data, adhering to established policies and client instructions.
  • Assist in the enhancement of names information for geospatial products and address user inquiries utilizing geospatial tools and research expertise.
  • Precisely input and sustain data to refresh the Geographic Names Database.
  • Investigate, procure, digitize, and geo-reference materials to improve geographic precision.
  • Interpret and implement policies governing the treatment of names and guidelines from associated organizations.
  • Conduct research using GIS software, standard office applications, and general research tools available online.
  • Identify and propose new source materials for production enhancement.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Fluency in a foreign language.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.
  • Proven experience with GIS software.
  • Basic knowledge of Geographic Names collection methodologies.
  • Experience in research and data collection.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Python scripting.
  • Regional geographic expertise in the areas relevant to the analyst's responsibilities.

Compensation Information:

The pay range for this position is between $42,000 and $76,375.00. This range serves as a general guideline and does not guarantee specific compensation.
