Job Overview

Position Summary

The Energy Efficiency Auditor plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Auditor in conducting comprehensive energy assessments and coordinating with subcontractors to implement effective energy-saving solutions. Responsibilities include assisting in Home Performance evaluations utilizing approved diagnostic tools, performing visual inspections, and conducting blower door tests to assess duct and envelope leakage, as well as combustion appliance and zone testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive work orders from the Supervisor or Crew Foreman.
  • Schedule appointments with clients and contractors for necessary work.
  • Evaluate repairs to ensure compliance with program guidelines.
  • Conduct testing procedures including CO, CAZ, draft testing, and pressure diagnostics before and after interventions.
  • Draft scopes of work for contractors based on assessments.
  • Perform hands-on measures as required by the Weatherization program.
  • Assist the Lead Auditor in monitoring project budgets to ensure adherence to funding limits.
  • Educate homeowners on the scope of work and energy conservation techniques.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of ongoing work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Refer clients to appropriate agencies for additional services.
  • Ensure compliance with all Weatherization and Home Performance program protocols.
  • Conduct final inspections of subcontractors' completed projects and issue necessary punch lists.
  • Participate in audits and monitoring activities conducted by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, clients, and contractors, adhering to appropriate dress codes.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to promote the success of the program.
  • Adapt to various programs within the department and follow established procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as required, including repairs on non-ARRA funded projects when Weatherization work is unavailable.

Requirements

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check, including Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, MVD check, and drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • This position is classified as Safety Sensitive.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • General knowledge of carpentry, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical work, accessibility modifications, and energy and water conservation practices.
  • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in conducting diagnostic testing and energy audits.
  • BPI Certification.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Over five years of experience in general repairs.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position require the employee to meet the following criteria:

  • Engagement in physically demanding tasks.
  • Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, from cold to extreme heat.
  • Work primarily in low-income neighborhoods and substandard housing.
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve bending and stooping.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently.
  • No physical restrictions that would impede the performance of job-related duties.
