JOB SUMMARY:

This role is pivotal in assisting the department to meet corporate objectives, focusing on high-quality customer order fulfillment and efficient inventory management. The individual will oversee the execution of corporate category strategies and initiatives within the operational company (OpCo). Responsibilities include supporting the sales team with product updates, responding to inquiries, and facilitating product training sessions. The position also involves driving category initiatives and assortment in alignment with corporate standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement Category Management and related initiatives within designated categories.
  • Ensure success in assigned categories while supporting core suppliers.
  • Engage with planners, suppliers, brokers, sales teams, and customer service.
  • Promote local assortment strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage relationships with local suppliers and brokers.
  • Provide guidance and support to the sales specialists within the operational company (OpCo).
  • Conduct corporate assortment training as necessary.
  • Facilitate local supplier evaluations and negotiations using best practices.
  • Negotiate supplier-funded pricing adjustments for customers.
  • Oversee local Earned Income programs and manage associated components.
  • Collaborate with supplier Category Captains or Advisors as needed.
  • Assist in the inventory depletion process by identifying items for discontinuation.
  • Drive results in focus categories and support promotional activities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for local sales and assist with various issues.
  • Manage the creation of new items and vendors.
  • Enhance Sysco Brand sales.
  • Maintain category pricing integrity in collaboration with the Revenue Management team.
  • Share market updates and commodity news with the sales organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in a retail, wholesale, or distribution setting.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to manage conflicts and resolve issues effectively.
  • Capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in driving positive merchandising changes.
  • Ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proficient in supplier negotiations and relationship management.
  • Strong Excel skills.
