Position Overview

Become an integral part of Stamford Health's Women's Specialty Center in a dual role that encompasses both administrative and clinical responsibilities. The Administrative and Medical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the practice manager with the daily functions of the High Risk OB Office.

Do you possess expertise in overseeing front desk operations and managing physician schedules? This role is designed to ensure efficient administration, scheduling, and billing processes for the Women's Specialty Center. In addition to providing essential support for administrative tasks, the Specialist will also assist as a Medical Assistant when required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage incoming referral and appointment requests from various sources, ensuring timely responses.
  • Coordinate patient appointments and maintain effective communication with patients.
  • Document all activities in the electronic system following established protocols.
  • Handle urgent referrals and schedule appointments promptly to facilitate timely consultations.
  • Deliver patient care in an outpatient setting under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
  • Greet patients warmly, whether in person or over the phone, addressing inquiries as needed.
  • Prepare patients for their healthcare visits by guiding them to examination rooms and assisting with positioning.
  • Verify patient information through interviews, medical history reviews, and vital sign assessments.
  • Communicate physician's orders to patients effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient examinations, treatments, and test results.
  • Schedule necessary procedures or tests as directed by licensed providers.
  • Manage phone communications regarding prescriptions, notes, and forms.
  • Complete disability and insurance documentation as required.
  • A high school diploma is mandatory, with an Associate's Degree preferred and a minimum of three years of experience in a medical office setting.
  • Certification or diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Biology with National Medical Assistant Certification is required.
