About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Precertification Coordinator to join our team at Stamford Health. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary precertifications and authorizations for surgical procedures.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and insurance companies to resolve any issues related to precertification and authorization.
  • Manage and track precertification and authorization requests, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Collaborate with the surgical scheduler to ensure seamless communication and coordination for scheduled procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of surgical procedures, medical terminology, and insurance policies.
  • Research and stay up-to-date on changes in insurance policies, billing requirements, and precertification processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and staff, ensuring a positive experience for all.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in insurance verification, precertification, medical billing, or a related field in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in electronic medical records and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of medical office operations, coding, and billing, as well as medical terminology and third-party insurance processes.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
