POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role involves delivering both direct and indirect clinical support to individuals requiring behavioral health assistance within the Emergency Departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct age-appropriate evaluations and interventions for a varied demographic with diverse needs.
  • Utilize core competencies such as crisis assessment, individual and family counseling, case management, and community engagement.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment options and resources.
  • Collaborate with insurance providers to ensure appropriate care pathways.
  • Participate in flexible coverage for other Behavioral Health services as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Master’s Degree and licensure in a Behavioral Health discipline is mandatory, including qualifications such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed APRN, or PhD or equivalent.

Certification in CPI de-escalation techniques must be obtained within six months of employment, with training provided by ECHN.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

This position necessitates strong clinical abilities and a commitment to teamwork. Proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English is essential. Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Outlook, are required.

Knowledge of psychiatric assessments, risk evaluations, and community resources is highly desirable. Flexibility in approach is crucial to meet specific service and system-wide needs. The ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks is necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Engage in individual clinical supervision, presenting cases for review and identifying areas for skill enhancement.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the impact of personal behavior on peers and patients.
  • Apply a range of interventions to effectively address the needs of a diverse patient population.
  • Exhibit cultural competence in treatment approaches.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and effectively utilize them to meet patient needs.
  • Provide timely patient interviews while considering all relevant clinical information.
  • Act as a behavioral health resource for emergency department staff and community partners.
  • Show adaptability in scheduling and coverage for the Emergency Departments.
  • Effectively manage patient flow while addressing clinical needs.
  • Demonstrate conscientiousness and productivity in fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Exercise sound judgment in seeking assistance or acting independently.
  • Negotiate with Managed Care Organizations for appropriate care levels.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly in compliance with relevant standards.
  • Utilize psychological and physical management techniques to handle potentially violent situations.
  • Participate in emergency response codes as necessary.
