POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role is dedicated to delivering both direct and indirect clinical support to individuals requiring behavioral health interventions within emergency settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct age-appropriate evaluations and provide treatment to a varied demographic with diverse needs.
  • Utilize core competencies such as crisis assessment, individual and family therapy, case management, and community collaboration.
  • Engage in patient and family education, insurance coordination, and develop treatment plans to ensure appropriate care levels.
  • Provide temporary coverage to other services within Behavioral Health as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Master’s Degree and relevant licensure in a Behavioral Health discipline is mandatory, such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed APRN, or PhD.

Certification in CPI de-escalation techniques must be obtained within six months of employment, with training provided by ECHN.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

This position necessitates strong clinical abilities, a collaborative team spirit, and proficient communication skills in English. Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Outlook, are essential.

Knowledge of psychiatric assessments, risk evaluation, and community resources is highly desirable. Flexibility in approach to meet both specific service and overall system needs is crucial. The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Actively engage in clinical supervision, presenting cases for discussion and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Recognize the impact of personal behavior on peers and patients, demonstrating self-awareness.
  • Implement a variety of interventions tailored to a diverse patient population.
  • Show respect for cultural differences in treatment approaches.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources to meet patient needs effectively.
  • Provide timely patient interviews while reviewing all relevant clinical information.
  • Serve as a behavioral health resource for emergency department staff and community resources.
  • Exhibit flexibility in scheduling and coverage across emergency departments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multitask while ensuring patients receive appropriate care.
  • Maintain productivity and fulfill responsibilities independently.
  • Exercise sound judgment in seeking assistance and acting autonomously.
  • Negotiate with Managed Care Organizations for appropriate care levels.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly, adhering to compliance standards.
  • Utilize psychological and physical management techniques to handle potentially violent situations.
  • Participate in emergency response codes as required.
