Position Overview

This role is situated within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service Line. The Service Line encompasses various sections, including Anatomic Pathology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Molecular, Histology, Cytology, and Phlebotomy.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Open to career transition candidates, including federal employees defined as "surplus" or "displaced."

This position is available to permanent employees of the facility and associated locations, including specific employee categories.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Advising the Laboratory Manager on operational activities.
  • Conducting assessments and special projects related to the Service Line's mission and functions.
  • Preparing and validating essential reports for the Service Line, including management briefings and budget reports.
  • Providing guidance on administrative directives and policies.
  • Researching and interpreting regulations to develop recommendations for management.
  • Organizing and maintaining documentation, manuals, and related materials.
  • Coordinating recommendations for enhancing operations in alignment with quality improvement initiatives.
  • Acting as the Records Management Liaison for Anatomic Pathology.
  • Managing office supplies and equipment requisitions.
  • Serving as a Timekeeper within the attendance system.
  • Functioning as an advisor and planner for healthcare service delivery within the Service Line.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, subject to change based on operational needs.

Promotion Potential: The selected candidate may be eligible for promotion to the full performance level without further competition upon meeting all requirements.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess relevant experience or education as specified for the grade level.

Physical Requirements: The role is primarily sedentary but may require occasional walking and lifting of light items.
