Overview:


Clinical Laboratory Specialists (CLS) play a crucial role in the healthcare system by delivering essential data for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of medical conditions through the execution of laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses with minimal supervision.

The responsibilities of a CLS encompass the preparation of specimens for analysis, utilization of advanced automated systems and specialized tools, conducting a variety of complex tests concurrently, and accurately interpreting results promptly to assist healthcare providers in making informed treatment choices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Entry-level position requiring an Associate degree in chemical science, biological science, or
medical laboratory technology from an accredited educational institution.

  • Achieves six Continuing Education Units (CEUs) biannually.
  • Completes training in at least two different laboratory rotations within the initial six months of employment.
  • Meets mandatory Computer-Based Learning (CBL) requirements on NetLearning by the specified deadlines.
  • Exhibits the core values of Baptist Health.
  • Must successfully complete or be actively pursuing national certification (ASCP or equivalent)
by the conclusion of the first year of employment, as demonstrated by a scheduled examination date.

This position is authorized for 72.00 hours on a bi-weekly basis.
