Job Overview:

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the State of Montana's water resources management by processing and researching water rights documents, assisting the public with water rights inquiries, and providing administrative support to the central office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and research water rights documents and information.
  • Assist the public with water rights questions and provide information on water rights procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to the central office, including data processing and record-keeping.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, such as preparing claim payment authorizations, researching return mail, and administering water well driller examinations.
  • Operate office equipment, including photocopy machines, multi-line phone systems, and personal computer systems.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, plus two years of education in a vocational or post-secondary curriculum, which includes personal computer training, or equivalent job experience.
  • Working knowledge of Montana water rights and water law, personal computer hardware, standard office practices and procedures, and some familiarity with agriculture, irrigation, stock, domestic, and other water use.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating system, MS Word, spreadsheet and database software, and communication software.
Working Conditions:

This position requires a valid driver's license with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months. The person selected must produce within three days of hire documents that show authorization to work in the United States.
