About the Position

The State of Montana is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Attorney to join our Legal Services Bureau. As an Attorney, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of our regulatory processes and protecting the interests of Montana consumers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and investigate referrals on matters concerning regulatory compliance
  • Advise agency staff on administrative matters
  • Research and prepare proposed legislation
  • Prepare legal opinions
  • Draft administrative rules
  • Assist senior attorneys in complex criminal and civil litigation involving the insurance and securities industries
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Membership in good standing in the State Bar of Montana, or admission within six months from date of hire
  • One year of legal experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years of legal experience
  • Two or more years in the insurance or securities industries
  • Two or more years with a state or federal insurance or securities regulator
