Alief - International Services YMCA is a unique branch of the YMCA of Greater Houston that serves the needs of Houston's significant refugee and immigrant communities.

We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As a Case Manager on our team, you will play an integral role in helping refugees, asylees, Cuban border crossers, Special Immigrant Visa holders, and victims of human trafficking gain access to a wide range of social support services with the goal of becoming self-sufficient.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess clients' needs in relation to the resettlement program
  • Work with clients to establish individualized service plans
  • Complete applications for SNAP/Medicaid and refer clients to the Refugee Medical Assistance Program
  • Ensure timely provision of core services
  • Provide translation, transportation, and interpretation as needed
  • Assist with initial Community Orientation
  • Develop self-sufficiency plans
  • Provide referrals and verify attendance to English as a Second Language classes
  • Offer guidance and emergency services for clients in crisis
  • Enroll children in school
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by the Program Coordinator
  • Maintain Case Files and enter applicable information into the YMCA database, Refugee Management System (RMS)
  • Receive clients at the airport and transport them to client apartments as assigned
  • Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
  • Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements
  • Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance
Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Fluency in Dari/Pashto required
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Excellent customer service skills; conflict resolution skills preferred
  • Previous work with diverse populations strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to social services and/or relevant professional experience
  • Very good organizational, effective time, and resource management skills
  • Valid driver's license, exceptional driving record, automobile liability insurance, and a vehicle
