Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Building Attendant II - Custodian to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our Facilities Services department, you will be responsible for performing custodial maintenance tasks in a team cleaning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform custodial maintenance tasks in a team cleaning environment, including rotating duties as restroom specialist, utility specialist, light duty specialist, and vacuum specialist.
  • Work in all University buildings, offices, facilities, and labs, performing general cleaning according to schedule, instructions, and team cleaning procedures.
  • Rotate duties for all team cleaning positions, including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and restocking restrooms, and changing light bulbs.
  • Secure buildings and rooms on schedule and/or after cleaning, following correct unlocking, locking, and alarm procedures.
  • Adhere to prescribed safety and custodial procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment and safety footwear.
  • Perform set-ups for special events and provide emergency response and clean-up for floods and other custodial emergencies.
Requirements
  • Six months of experience in custodial, hospitality, warehouse, production, facilities maintenance, or environmental services.
  • Ability to follow basic work instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors and peer group.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, written instructions, product labels, and other written job materials.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be an effective team member.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The employee must be able to work in all weather conditions, around chemical fumes, and in areas with biohazards and chemicals. The employee must also be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and walk up to 5 miles per day.
