Job Title: Library Collections Specialist VI

Princeton University Library is seeking a highly skilled Library Collections Specialist VI to join our team at the Mendel Music Library. As a key member of our collections services team, you will play a critical role in supporting the library's mission to advance world-class research and provide dynamic services and access to diverse resources.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to collections services, leading stacks and collection maintenance projects to ensure the library's collections are well-organized and easily accessible.
  • Supervise public services in the late afternoon and early evening, responding to patron questions and troubleshooting issues to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Organize and process faculty course reserve requests, facilitating world-class research and ensuring that students have access to the resources they need.
  • Assist in managing the public services student staff, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Serve as outreach and exhibits coordinator, highlighting the Music Library's services, resources, special events, and exhibits to our community.
  • Scan print materials for reserves and document delivery services, ensuring that materials are accurately and efficiently processed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years of library experience or equivalent, with demonstrated ability to manage collections and circulation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to effectively communicate with patrons, staff, and faculty.
  • Ability to manage time and projects effectively, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Supervisory experience, with ability to lead and motivate staff.
  • Ability to read music and recognize different types of notation, familiarity with music history and theory, and knowledge of forms, genres, and instruments corresponding to specific time periods and/or locations.
  • Familiarity with Alma or other ILS systems, OCLC, and other major bibliographic databases.
  • Facility with email, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office applications, along with a willingness to learn new technology.
  • Ability to work well in a team-based environment, with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Physical requirements include bending and stretching, lifting books, and moving large book trucks.
  • High School diploma or GED.
