Extension Educator II

The University of Massachusetts is seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Extension Educator to join our team. As a key member of our Extension program, you will develop and deliver educational programs, publications, and services to food processors, focusing on improving food safety practices related to food product development, food processing, and food safety management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and teach educational programs and provide research-based information to food processors on food safety management practices and risk management.
- Collaborate with Extension and other staff to prepare and publish research-based educational materials, such as newsletters, management guides, fact sheets, and articles.
- Conduct applied research and/or scholarly or creative activity to meet emerging needs of commercial processors statewide related to best practices for food processing applications.
- Conduct needs assessment, develop program objectives, design delivery methods, and develop evaluation procedures in collaboration with supervisor and other Extension Faculty and Staff.
- Seek out and apply for external funding, including public grants, to support program activities.
- Bachelor's degree in food science, biological science, agricultural science, or a closely related field.
- Valid US driver's license.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in extension or public outreach.
- Experience with industrial applications of food science.
- Training in food safety management systems, such as Preventive Controls for Human Food, Seafood HACCP, Juice HACCP, or Meat & Poultry HACCP.
