Job Summary

The Disability Insurance Specialist I is a critical role within the Employment Development Department, responsible for developing analytical skills, participating in policy formulation, and gathering and analyzing data to support the administration of the Department's Disability Insurance program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement analytical skills to support policy formulation and data-driven decision making.
  • Participate in the development of guidelines, training courses, and other tools and materials to assist Disability Insurance office management.
  • Collaborate with field and departmental personnel to secure and disseminate necessary information.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence on technical Disability Insurance issues, problems, and concerns.
  • Work with the Disability Insurance Field Office Manager or Field Operations Division Manager to develop and implement performance measurements and recommend solutions to performance issues.
Working Conditions

This position requires strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of disability insurance policies and procedures, as well as experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business, public administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field, such as disability insurance, policy analysis, or program management.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to develop and implement analytical skills to support policy formulation and data-driven decision making.
