Position Title: Director of Flight Training and Standards

Location: Orlando, FL

Department: Operations

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the VP of Flight Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Role Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing and directing the engineering functions related to operations, while also monitoring the performance metrics of the National Airlines fleet. The role involves active participation in industry forums focused on enhancing product reliability and operational efficiency, as well as keeping abreast of updates from original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the company's safety management protocols.
  • Ensure that maintenance and flight operations are conducted using the most effective and dependable procedures.
  • Address fleet reliability concerns promptly.
  • Evaluate data releases and modifications to optimize aircraft performance.
  • Recommend updates to maintenance and operational programs as necessary.
  • Utilize the latest documents provided by OEMs and vendors.
  • Promote safety among maintenance, ramp, and flight crews through additional training initiatives.
  • Conduct competency and proficiency assessments for airmen in accordance with FAA standards.
  • Maintain current qualifications to serve as pilot in command or second in command.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures.
  • Establish performance standards for all aircraft types, including checklists.
  • Oversee compliance with 14 CFR requirements for crew line checks, proficiency checks, and training standards.
  • Create standard evaluation profiles for various aircraft types.
  • Ensure the training manual and related documentation are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Maintain consistency and standardization among instructors and check airmen during simulator training.
  • Identify additional training needs and manage training records for crew members.
  • Conduct audits of facilities, records, and training systems approved by the FAA.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Empowered to oversee, assess, and modify training programs as needed to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Monitor and confirm staff readiness for release from training.
  • Conduct training observations to guarantee reliability and efficiency.
  • Audit contract instructors and training facilities biennially.

Qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot License with appropriate ratings.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Travel Requirements:

Willingness to travel 40-60% of the time.
