Position Title: Head of Flight Training and Standards

Location: Orlando, FL

Department: Operations

Reports To: VP of Flight Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Role Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing and delegating the engineering functions related to operations while monitoring the performance of the National Airlines fleet. The role involves participation in industry events aimed at enhancing product and operational reliability, as well as monitoring communications from original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the company's safety management protocols.
  • Ensure that maintenance and flight operations implement the most effective and dependable procedures.
  • Address fleet reliability concerns promptly.
  • Review data releases and modifications to optimize aircraft performance.
  • Recommend updates to maintenance and operational programs as necessary.
  • Utilize the latest documents from OEMs and vendors.
  • Ensure the safety of maintenance, ramp, and flight crews by advocating for additional training.
  • Conduct airman competency and proficiency evaluations in accordance with FAA standards.
  • Maintain current qualifications to serve as pilot in command or second in command.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures.
  • Establish standards for all fleet types, including checklists.
  • Oversee compliance with 14 CFR required crew line checks, proficiency assessments, and training standards.
  • Create evaluation profiles for all fleet types.
  • Ensure the training manual and related documents are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Promote consistency and standardization among instructors and check airmen during simulator training.
  • Identify additional training needs and maintain training records for crew members.
  • Conduct facility and records audits, ensuring compliance with FAA-approved training systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Empowered to supervise, monitor, and adjust training programs as needed to ensure compliance with company records and training events.
  • Verify that staff are prepared for release from training.
  • Observe training sessions to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Conduct audits of contract instructors and training facilities every two years.

Qualifications:

Must possess a comprehensive understanding of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot License with appropriate ratings.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Travel Requirements:

Willingness to travel 40-60% of the time.
