Position Overview

Runner Music is seeking a Head of Corporate Strategy to oversee the complete lifecycle of acquisitions. This role will involve conducting thorough research, developing financial models, and providing insights that guide the company's investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial data from sellers to construct historical income trend models and identify discrepancies in earnings.
  • Conduct due diligence by verifying historical earnings against third-party documentation and meticulously recording findings.
  • Create valuation models that include earnings projections based on song history and assess the potential for lasting value.
  • Negotiate letters of intent and formal transaction agreements in collaboration with internal and external legal teams.
  • Communicate with sellers to update due diligence information and monitor outstanding requests.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and administrative teams, to finalize agreements and ensure comprehensive information is collected during the diligence phase.
  • Oversee the integration of newly acquired assets with relevant departments, ensuring all necessary information for management and exploitation is received.
  • Perform regular evaluations and ongoing analysis of the performance of acquired assets against forecasts.
  • Research and refine key valuation assumptions, such as decay rates and the value of chart-topping hits.
  • Maintain a robust understanding of pop culture, developments in rights management, and key industry players.
  • Support analysis related to Runner's Frontline Publishing operations.
  • Participate in other activities and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in analyzing media or intellectual property acquisitions, ideally within music publishing, television, or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in financial modeling and analysis specific to acquisitions.
  • Strong research skills and a comprehensive understanding of popular media, particularly in music publishing and/or television.
  • Proficient in web research techniques.
  • Experience collaborating within a team, with the ability to articulate and defend or challenge assumptions.
  • Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
  • Adept at quickly learning and adapting to new IT tools and technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Skilled in researching solutions to challenges and making informed recommendations.

This role offers flexibility in work arrangements, including in-office, hybrid, or remote options, with a preference for candidates located in specific time zones.
