POSITION SUMMARY

LearningWorks Afterschool is dedicated to supporting students in grades Pre-K through 5th who are academically underperforming. Our programs are designed to foster essential skills such as academic confidence, initiative, problem-solving, communication, and perseverance through engaging, hands-on activities. The Teaching Site Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing a part-time program that emphasizes Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) alongside enrichment activities that promote health, wellness, and social-emotional learning.

The Teaching Site Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the program, ensuring effective communication with families and students, managing schedules, and supervising a dedicated team of educators and volunteers. This role is pivotal in creating a supportive and structured environment for all participants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with LearningWorks Directors and school personnel to facilitate student enrollment and registration.
  • Oversee the daily implementation of the STEAM curriculum and enrichment activities, with support from Site Directors.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, volunteers, and school staff regarding student engagement, schedules, and program activities.
  • Ensure a safe and organized learning environment for both students and staff.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and addressing behavioral challenges as necessary.
  • Utilize best practices to achieve consistent student attendance and meet program targets.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, meal counts, and program activities as required.
  • Assist in the development of enrichment activities and program schedules.
  • Supervise a team of educators and volunteers, leading regular meetings to discuss program needs and improvements.
  • Be responsive to inquiries from students and families during program hours.
  • Support the organization of family and community events to enhance program visibility.
  • Exhibit professionalism in all interactions, adhering to program guidelines and safety protocols.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • State of Maine Teaching Certification.
  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • At least 3 years of teaching experience with elementary-aged children.
  • A minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and low-performing populations is preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in various technologies, including Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive Suite, and Zoom.
  • Experience with remote or blended learning environments is a plus.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and problem-solving abilities.
  • A growth mindset and eagerness to learn innovative educational approaches.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
